Service Description

This guided tour is perfect for those short on time or wanting to experience the best activities and sights in Banff National Park in a day. Starting the day with an optional pick-up from your accommodation in Banff, we make the short journey to Vermilion Lakes for our first photo opportunity of the day - an incredible winters sunrise with the mighty Mt. Rundle as your backdrop. This stunning spot is a favourite among professional and amateur photographers alike, as the sky lights up behind Mt. Rundle creating the perfect lighting for a jaw-dropping photo. For those not keen on the earlier photo op, we make a quick stop at our pick-up location in Banff and then hit the scenic Trans Canada Highway to the Icefields Parkway, keeping our eyes peeled for any wildlife along the way (the bears are sleeping at this time of year, but we sometimes see elk, bighorn sheep, deer, wolves, coyotes and the ever elusive moose!). Here we will make a number of stops at different viewpoints until we arrive at Bow Summit, where following some quick instructions and a demonstration from your guide, we will snowshoe around 20 minutes to the best viewpoint in Banff National Park, the Peyto Lake Lookout. The Peyto Lake Lookout looks out across the vast Canadian Rockies landscape and features a lake below that resembles a wolf! It's one of the busiest and most visited landmarks in the warmer months, but snowshoeing it in the winter almost guarantees having it to ourselves! After enjoying a magical walk back through the forest, we then make our way back down the Icefields Parkway to the village of Lake Louise, where you can visit a number of places for a quick lunch stop. After filling up on locally roasted coffee and treats (our guides live for The Houston sandwich at Trailhead Café), we make the short trip down the road to the famous Lake Louise. At Lake Louise, you'll be given the option to go ice-skating and play ice hockey on the frozen lake maintained winter long, try some more snowshoeing around and on Lake Louise or simply just relax in the famous Chateau Lake Louise for a couple of hours. We'll take the scenic route back to Banff along wildlife corridor, the Bow Valley Parkway, where will make a stop at Morant's Curve for a potentially lucky photo op to rival the Canadian $10 bill. Our final stop of the day before drop-off at your accommodation will be the Mt. Norquay lookout to take in a birds eye view of Banff and the sun lowers.
