The Rockies most people never find.

Most visitors never make it past Banff. Out here, the mountains are raw enough to make you feel alive in a way you forgot was possible. Yoho and Kootenay are where the Rockies stop performing and start being truly wild.

Stand close enough to feel the mist from Takakkaw Falls, Canada’s 2nd tallest waterfall, 373 metres of pure thunder. Walk the bridges over Marble Canyon as glacial water tears through stone carved over centuries. Then stand at the edge of Emerald Lake, where the colour of the water genuinely doesn’t look real and the scale of everything quietly gets into you. Your guide has spent years in these parks and knows every layer of them. Everything is handled. The only thing left to do is show up.

For those who want the Rockies raw and unfiltered.

Itinerary

Hotel Pick-up in Banff, Canmore & Lake Louise

Your guide sets the scene as we head out, sharing the history and ecology of the land as the wild side of the Rockies starts revealing itself before you’ve even arrived.

45 minutes
Marble Canyon

Cross bridges over deep glacial chasms as turquoise water roars through stone carved over centuries. Up close, the scale of it stops you in your tracks.

1 hour 15 minutes
Emerald Lake

The colour of the water genuinely doesn’t look real. Stroll the lakeshore, let the silence settle, or rent a canoe and paddle out onto one of the most quietly spectacular places in the Rockies.

10 minutes
Natural Bridge

Thousands of years of the Kicking Horse River carving through solid rock, right in front of you. Stand at the edge of what patience and raw power can do.

50 minutes
Takakkaw Falls

You hear Takakkaw before you see it. Round the corner, and the mist finds you first. Then the scale of it takes over. Canada’s second tallest waterfall, and it doesn’t hold back.

Hotel Drop-off

We’ll drive you back to your pick-up spot with the wild still in you, and the rest of your day still ahead. Your guide will point you toward whatever comes next, but honestly, you’ve already had the best part.

FAQs

This experience involves moderate walking with some elevation gain. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.

This one takes you out of Banff National Park and into two parks most tourists completely miss, Yoho and Kootenay. You’ll see Marble Canyon, a narrow and dramatic limestone gorge, Emerald Lake, quite possibly the greenest water you’ve ever laid eyes on, Natural Bridge, a rock arch carved straight through by the Kicking Horse River, and Takakkaw Falls, Canada’s 2nd tallest waterfall at a staggering 373 metres. It’s a serious day out.

373 metres, or 1,224 feet, making it Canada’s 2nd tallest. It’s fed by glacial melt, so it’s at its most powerful and thunderous in late spring and early summer. Get up close, which you absolutely will, and prepare for a refreshing bit of mist.

Yes, rentals are available right on-site when they’re in season, usually May through October. That famous colour of Emerald Lake comes from glacier fed rock flour suspended in the water, and it looks even more unreal once you’re out on it in a canoe. Just ask your guide about availability on the day.

It’s a full day covering two parks with a bit more driving involved, so it’s best suited to older kids and adults who can really take in the full scope of what you’re seeing. If you’ve got younger ones along, let’s chat about a private tour instead, where you can set the pace.

No, and that’s kind of the point. If you’ve already ticked off the iconic lakes, this is the perfect next step. Yoho and Kootenay are genuinely underrated, and most visitors never make it out there at all. You’ll come away feeling like you discovered something the crowds missed.

A picnic lunch from Bare Bistro is included, ready for you to enjoy whenever you are. Just choose your lunch option at checkout.

Nice and stress free. As long as you contact us by email or phone at least 24 hours before your booking start time, you can cancel or make changes without any penalty at all. Easy as that.
