Two lakes. One unforgettable afternoon. There is a moment at both Moraine Lake and Lake Louise where something shifts. The turquoise is too vivid to trust, the mountains too big to take in, and you just stop and look. This is the condensed icons run for travellers who want both legendary lakes done right, without giving up a full day to do it. Your guide knows exactly where to stand so the colour comes alive, which viewpoints the crowds walk straight past, and the stories you won’t find in any guidebook. Just the right pace, the right light, and enough time at each lake for the wonder to actually land.

These lakes earn their reputation in daylight. That glacial blue ignites when the sun hits the water straight on, so you see the colour at full strength.

The two lakes everyone chases, Lake Louise and Moraine, seen the way they were meant to be. Not the way the crowds settle for. You get a local guide who actually knows these mountains and insider photography tips for shots worth stopping the scroll. Hotel pickup and drop off, a Polaroid to take home, fresh water all day, and a picnic lunch with a view. Two lakes. One afternoon. Done right.
About 4 hours in total. You’re typically picked up around 12:30pm depending on where you’re staying, and you’ll be back by about 4:00 to 4:15pm. Exact times are confirmed when you book. They vary slightly by pickup location and time of year.
Roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour at each lake, which is the sweet spot. Enough to really take it in, explore the shoreline, get your photos, and not feel rushed. Your guide will time it to make sure you’re at each lake when the light and crowd levels are best.
Not on this tour. The afternoon moves at a relaxed pace, but it doesn’t leave enough time to get out on the water and still do both lakes justice. If canoeing is on your list, we’d point you to our Best of Banff National Park Adventure instead. It’s a full eight-hour day with plenty of room to paddle the glacier-fed water and soak in everything else, unhurried.
It’s not included, so you’ll want to sort that out before the tour. You can grab one at the park gate, the visitor centre in Banff, or online at pc.gc.ca.
Kids 8 and up are totally welcome and usually love it. The lakes are genuinely jaw-dropping and the guides are great at keeping it engaging. For families with kids under 8, a private tour is the better call since you can set the pace.
Totally fine, just give your guide a heads up beforehand. You’re welcome to stay behind and catch the Roam Transit bus back to Banff or Lake Louise on your own time. Plenty of guests do exactly this when they want some extra time to hike or get out on the water.
We pick up from select hotels across Banff, including the Train Station, Canalta Lodge, Caribou Lodge, Moose Hotel, Rimrock Resort, Fairmont Banff, and Peaks Hotel. You’ll see the full list at checkout, so just pick yours and you’re set.
This one’s an easy day. You’ll do some light walking on uneven ground at each lake, nothing strenuous, but a reasonable level of mobility makes it more comfortable. If you can handle a gentle stroll, you’ll be more than fine.
Nice and stress free. As long as you contact us by email or phone at least 24 hours before your booking start time, you can cancel or make changes without any penalty at all. Easy as that.
