This is the Canadian Rockies at walking pace: where turquoise lakes shimmer below towering peaks, glaciers shape the horizon, and every step pulls you deeper into the landscape. Travelling through Banff and Jasper National Parks and the wild spaces of Kananaskis Country, this journey balances the Rockies’ most celebrated places with trails that feel quieter, more personal, and refreshingly uncrowded.
Across four days of hiking, you’ll move through alpine meadows, forested valleys, and high viewpoints that reward both the climb and the pause. Daily routes are chosen with care by your expert guide, adapting to weather and trail conditions to make the most of each day. With private transport, a supportive group dynamic, and space to move at a steady, unhurried pace, the focus stays on experience over mileage.
At its core, this trip is about how it feels to move through wild places together – strong, present, and fully engaged. It’s laughter on the trail, quiet moments of awe, and the kind of connection that comes naturally when you share effort, challenge, and beauty with a small group of women.
This is a Rad Women journey: designed for women, led with intention, and open to all who identify as women or non-binary. Our small-group adventures create a welcoming, supportive environment where you can explore confidently, connect authentically, and experience the mountains in a way that feels both powerful and deeply human.

An early start delivers one of the Rockies’ most iconic moments. Travel by private van to Moraine Lake in the quiet hours of morning, where first light spills across the Valley of the Ten Peaks. As the sun rises, the lake’s still surface reflects the surrounding mountains: calm, powerful, and well worth the early wake-up.
From here, we continue to Lake Louise and lace up for a rewarding alpine hike to the Plain of Six Glaciers (approximately 11km, 3 hours, 400 m elevation gain). The trail winds through forest and open slopes before opening up to sweeping views over the lake and surrounding glaciers. At the teahouse, take a well-earned pause with something warm in hand and time to soak it all in.
The afternoon is yours to shape. Paddle across Lake Louise by canoe, settle in for tea at the Fairmont Lake Louise, or simply linger by the shoreline. Public buses run regularly between Lake Louise and Banff for those who wish to stay longer before returning.

Overnight: Banff
Today takes you beyond the well-trodden paths and into the wide-open landscapes of Kananaskis Country. Known for its quiet valleys, expansive meadows, and dramatic mountain backdrops, this region offers a slower, more spacious feel than the national parks.
Your guide selects a scenic trail with a steady, manageable climb, leading to rewarding views over alpine lakes or along open ridgelines, proof that some of the most memorable moments happen far from the crowds.
After the hike, the day softens into something distinctly local. Depending on the season and conditions, you’ll wind down at a welcoming mountain lodge with sweeping views and refreshments, or visit a character-rich ranch for a taste of authentic Western hospitality. Either way, it’s a chance to rest tired legs, share stories, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being together after a strong day on the trail.
Travel note: Roads in this region can be narrow, winding, and occasionally rough. If you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking precautions or chatting with us in advance about alternative options.
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
Overnight: Banff
This morning, settle in for one of the Rockies’ most awe-inspiring drives as you travel north along the Icefields Parkway. Glaciers spill down from towering peaks, valleys open wide, and the scale of the landscape slowly reshapes your sense of distance and time.
Around midday, step onto the trail for a hike at Wilcox Pass (approximately 3–4 hours, 400 m elevation gain). The route climbs steadily through open alpine terrain, where wildflowers and wind-swept meadows give way to sweeping views of the Athabasca Glacier and surrounding icefields. It’s a powerful place to walk: raw, exposed, and deeply humbling. We pause at the iconic red chairs overlooking the glacier, a quiet moment to take it all in, snap a photo, or simply sit with the immensity of what you’ve just experienced.
The return journey follows the Parkway south, with carefully chosen stops for dramatic viewpoints, lesser-known pullouts, and wildlife sightings when luck is on our side, including a stop at Peyto Lake to admire its unmistakable turquoise colour from above.
Throughout the day, your guide brings the landscape to life with insight into the region’s geology, wildlife, and glacial history, adding depth to every view.

Today is a fitting finale, pairing open alpine landscapes with time to reflect on the week behind you. Accessed by gondola and chairlift, Sunshine Meadows delivers a high-alpine experience without the grind of a long ascent. Spend 3–4 hours wandering through rolling meadows, past clear mountain lakes, and along wide trails that open onto panoramic views in every direction. This is a day for steady movement, deep breaths, and lingering longer when a view demands it.
By afternoon, return to Banff with tired legs and full hearts. The evening brings a farewell dinner, a chance to celebrate the miles covered, the moments shared, and the quiet confidence that comes from moving through wild places together. Stories are exchanged, laughter comes easily, and the group dynamic that formed on the trail finds its natural close.

Yes! We would definitely recommend an “All Inclusive” policy that covers you for both medical expenses as well as any trip cancellation or interruptions. You can purchase this from our booking platform, “WeTravel”, or contact us for more information.
At Radventures we pride ourselves on our flexibility. If you wan’t to enjoy more of this beautiful country before and after your time with us, we’d be more than happy to make any arrangements for you. As for being partly involved in a tour, whilst we can’t make any guarantees about whats possible or not, it’s best that you get in touch with us when you’re considering booking a tour or trip with us and let us know how you want things to work so we can see if we can make it work.
This is a tricky one. We don’t know when other people will book, so it’s hard to know if and when the tour will fill up. Our advice is to book as soon as you’ve made the decision to travel, that way you won’t be disappointed. Most of our service providers have a cutoff date of 2-3 months before departure that we need to advise them to release any excess space, and while we may be able to get these services back after the cutoff date it’s definitely safer to book early while we can still guarantee enough space for you.
You’re in great company! We have two options for solo travellers on our tours – you can join our share program to be matched with another rad solo traveller (of the same sex), or you can purchase the single supplement to have your own private room.
Hiking in bear country is safe when you follow established guidelines and travel with an experienced guide. Our guides are trained in wildlife behaviour, park protocols, and safe group management. They choose trails with current bear reports in mind and make decisions that prioritize your safety and comfort at all times.
Your guide will lead the group in standard safety practices, including:
Staying together as a group
Making noise at appropriate intervals
Being alert in areas with limited visibility (dense forest, running water, corners)
Avoiding known feeding areas when necessary
Following all Parks Canada advisories
These simple habits significantly reduce wildlife encounters and help ensure a safe and enjoyable hike.
The Rockies are beautiful year-round, but for hiking, the best time is late spring through early fall. We plan our tours during months when most high-elevation snow has melted and before winter conditions return, giving you the safest and most enjoyable trail experience.
Because mountain weather can change quickly, we keep our daily hike plans flexible. This lets us adapt to conditions on the ground and also take full advantage of seasonal highlights, whether that’s wildflower season (typically June to August) or larch season, when alpine larch trees turn brilliant gold (usually mid-September to early October). Each period offers something uniquely spectacular, and we tailor our hiking choices to what will provide the best experience on any given day.
This trip is designed for travellers with a moderate level of fitness. Most days include hikes of 6-10 km (4-6 mi) or 3-4 hours with gradual elevation gains of up to 500 meters (1500 ft), along well-maintained trails. You don’t need to be an experienced mountaineer, but you should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain, managing some uphill sections, and spending several hours outdoors in a day.
Hiking at this pace allows you to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and fully appreciate the Rockies without feeling rushed. If you’re generally active (walking, cycling, or doing other aerobic activity a few times per week) you’ll likely find the itinerary very manageable. Our guides will always adjust the pace to match the group and provide support where needed, so you can focus on enjoying the adventure rather than worrying about your fitness level.
