How long do we spend at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake?
Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours at each lake, which is the sweet spot. Enough to really take it in, explore the shoreline, get your photos, and not feel rushed. Your guide will time it to make sure you’re at each lake when the light and crowd levels are best.
How is the Private Best of Banff different from the small-group version?
Your group is the only group, and the whole day flexes around you. The gourmet picnic lunch comes as standard, and your guide’s attention stays entirely on your group rather than being shared across a larger one. It’s a day shaped completely around what you want.
How physically demanding is this tour?
This one’s an easy day. You’ll do some light walking on uneven ground at each lake, nothing strenuous, but a reasonable level of mobility makes it more comfortable. If you can handle a gentle stroll, you’ll be more than fine.
Is this tour a good fit for seniors or guests with limited mobility?
Yes. Because it’s just your group, your guide sets the pace around you: shorter walks, more time at viewpoints near the vehicle, and extra breaks whenever you need them. There’s no upper age limit. Our vehicles aren’t wheelchair accessible, so if you use a mobility aid, contact us before booking and we’ll plan what works.
What if the weather is bad?
Here’s the thing: the Rockies are spectacular in all conditions. We happily run in rain, cloud, and overcast skies, and honestly some of the most striking scenery comes on those moody days when the mist rolls through the peaks and the lakes turn moody and dramatic. The only time we ever cancel is if conditions become genuinely unsafe, which is rare. If that does happen, we’ll let you know as early as we can and always make it right with a full refund or a reschedule. Either way, just pack a light waterproof layer and you’ll be comfortable whatever the day brings.
Can I canoe at Moraine Lake or Lake Louise?
You can. Canoe rentals are available right on the water at Moraine Lake (seasonal, and you pay on-site). They’re not part of the tour price and availability isn’t guaranteed, but if you’re keen, just let your guide know so they can help direct you. Keep in mind your time at the lake is limited, so plan accordingly and decide early if you want to get out on the water.
