FAQs

Quiet winter forest in the mountains around Banff, on routes your guide chooses for the best conditions of the day rather than a fixed trail. That’s the beauty of it: you go where the snow and the scenery are best that morning, deep into peaceful terrain most visitors never reach on foot. All the gear is provided, and because it’s a daytime tour, you’ll see the winter landscape in its full glory.

None at all. Your guide fits your snowshoes and poles and walks you through the basics before you set off, and within minutes you’ll be moving like you’ve done it before. If you can walk, you can snowshoe. The tour is built specifically for first-timers and casual explorers, so most guests are genuinely surprised by how natural it feels.

Often, yes. Winter is a quieter season, but plenty of animals stay active through the cold, and your guide knows how to read the tracks they leave in the fresh snow. Sightings are never guaranteed by nature, but spotting signs of wildlife and learning the stories behind them is a real part of the experience.

Snowshoes and hiking poles are both included. Just dress warmly in good winter layers, bring a water bottle, and you’re ready to go. Hot drinks and a winter sweet treat are provided out on the trail.

Expect anywhere from -10°C to -25°C in peak winter, so full layers are essential. As for conditions, the Rockies are spectacular in all weather, and winter has a magic of its own. We happily run in snow, cloud, and cold, and some of the most beautiful mornings come on crisp, snow-filled days. The only time we cancel is if conditions become genuinely unsafe, which is rare, and if that happens we’ll let you know as early as we can and always make it right with a full refund or a reschedule.

Nice and stress free. As long as you contact us by email or phone at least 24 hours before your booking start time, you can cancel or make changes without any penalty at all. Easy as that.
