FAQs about our Moraine Lake Tours
How do I get to Moraine Lake and Lake Louise?
Moraine Lake is closed to personal vehicles year-round and is best accessed via commercial tours. While Lake Louise is accessible by car, parking is limited and fills up quickly, making commercial tours a highly recommended option.
Can I visit both lakes in one day?
Yes, all of our Moraine Lake tours include visits to both Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, which are conveniently located just a 15-minute drive apart.
When is the best time to visit Moraine Lake and Lake Louise?
The best time to visit Moraine Lake and Lake Louise depends on your travel style! Whether you’re an early riser who loves serene mornings, a sunset chaser seeking golden hour views, or someone who enjoys exploring during the day, we’ve got you covered. Our tours offer a variety of departure times to fit your schedule and ensure you experience the lakes at their most magical.
Can I swim in Moraine Lake or Lake Louise?
Swimming is allowed but rare due to the glacier-fed water, which is around 5°C (41°F). It’s extremely cold and not recommended for most visitors.
Can I canoe at Moraine Lake or Lake Louise?
Yes, canoe rentals are available at both lakes from mid-June to mid-September. At Moraine Lake, rentals are first-come, first-serve at the boat dock for ~160/hr. At Lake Louise, canoes are available on the left side of the lake for ~$165/hour ($105 for Fairmont Chateau guests).
Are pets allowed on your tours?
Pets are welcome exclusively on our private tours. If you’d like to bring your furry friend along, simply book a private tour to accommodate them!
What’s the best way to avoid crowds?
If you want to escape the crowds at Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, the best times to visit are in the morning on our sunrise tours or in the evening on our sunset tours.
How physically demanding are your tours?
All of our tours are designed to be slower-paced and free of strenuous activity. We stick to easy terrain, making them accessible, though a reasonable level of mobility is recommended for the best experience.
What happens incase of bad weather?
We operate rain, snow, or shine. Some of the most stunning moments occur during unexpected weather conditions. If extreme weather affects safety, we will offer rescheduling or a full refund.
