FAQs about our Summer Tours
When is the best time to visit Banff and Lake Louise in summer to avoid crowds?
Early June or mid-to-late September offer milder crowds and lower hotel rates. July and August are peak season; arrive before 8 AM or after 5 PM at popular spots like Lake Louise and Moraine Lake to beat tour buses.
Do I need a Parks Canada pass for summer tours in Banff National Park?
Yes. A daily or annual Discovery Pass is required for all vehicles stopping anywhere in the park (including the Icefields Parkway). Buy online in advance or at park gates to avoid lineups.
How do I get to Moraine Lake in summer without a car?
Personal vehicles are banned on Moraine Lake Road from mid-May to mid-October.
Are the Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure and Skywalk open every day in summer?
Weather permitting, both operate daily from early May to mid-October (9 AM–5 PM).
Can I canoe at Moraine Lake or Lake Louise?
Yes, canoe rentals are available at both lakes from mid-June to mid-September. At Moraine Lake, rentals are first-come, first-serve at the boat dock for ~160/hr. At Lake Louise, canoes are available on the left side of the lake for ~$165/hour ($105 for Fairmont Chateau guests).
Are pets allowed on your tours?
Pets are welcome exclusively on our private tours. If you’d like to bring your furry friend along, simply book a private tour to accommodate them!
What wildlife safety rules apply on guided summer tours?
Stay 30 metres from elk/deer and 100 metres from bears/wolves. All commercial guides carry bear spray and provide briefings. Never feed wildlife; store food in bear-proof lockers or vehicles.
How physically demanding are your tours?
All of our tours are designed to be slower-paced and free of strenuous activity. We stick to easy terrain, making them accessible, though a reasonable level of mobility is recommended for the best experience.
What happens incase of bad weather?
We operate rain, snow, or shine. Some of the most stunning moments occur during unexpected weather conditions. If extreme weather affects safety, we will offer rescheduling or a full refund.
What is your cancellation policy?
All of our summer tours can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
